Two 5-year-olds sexually assaulted, one arrested

NEW DELHI: A five-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by her neighbour, a 16-year-old, in south-west Delhi’s Dwarka on Tuesday.

The girl had gone to buy noodles from a nearby store when the incident happened. “The teenager was sitting at the pavement, smoking. He asked her to accompany him and took her to a secluded spot, promising to buy her goodies, and sexually assaulted her,” a police officer said.

When the girl tried to shout for help, the teenager gagged her and tried to strangle her. He fled when he heard some people passing by,.

“The girl went back home crying and narrated everything to her mother, who approached the police,” a police officer said.

The girl, who was reportedly bleeding from her private parts, was rushed to a hospital. The police are questioning the youth.

Another five-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her landlord’s 20-year-old son in west Delhi’s Kirti Nagar on Thursday when her parents were at work.

The youth, when he saw the girl playing alone, locked the door from inside and assaulted her. He gagged her when she tried to raise an alarm. When the girl’s mother returned home, she found her daughter in a semi-conscious condition.

“We registered a case and took the girl for a medical examination that confirmed assault. The youth was arrested,” a senior police officer said.
