On Wednesday, 54 new cases were reported, the highest in a single day so far. The total number of affected people has reached 550, with one death.

According to Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), the number of cases till August 2009 were only three. The figure was 63 and 15 during the same period in 2008 and 2007, respectively. Though the civic body has said there was one confirmed and three suspected dengue deaths this season, private hospitals are giving a much higher figure.
