12-year-old gangraped in W Delhi

A 12-year-old girl was taken to a deserted place in a car and gangraped by her neighbour and two of his friends, reports Ravi Bajpai.

A 12-year-old girl was taken to a deserted place in a car and gangraped by her neighbour and two of his friends in west Delhi on Wednesday, police said. The victim had been asked by a friend, another girl her age, to accompany her in the car to buy books.

Police said Pooja (name changed) had to be hospitalized, and added that her parents were not in town. The family lives in Khyala, near Tilak Nagar.

Pooja told Hindustan Times that the accused took the car to a secluded place instead of the market, parked it there and raped her.

Police said 23-year-old Raju Porwal, Pooja’s neighbour, had been arrested. “Two others have been detained for questioning. The girl has not given her statement yet,” said Sharad Aggarwal, DCP (west).
