2-year-old survives train hit, father dies

A 2-year-old girl had a miraculous escape while her father was run over by the Kalka Mail in outer Delhi's Samaipur Badli area late on Monday night.

A 2-year-old girl had a miraculous escape while her father was run over by the Kalka Mail in outer Delhi's Samaipur Badli area late on Monday night.

The accident took place at around 10 pm when the duo was crossing the tracks, police said.

The deceased, identified as Rajesh Thakur, 25, was a native of Bihar. Thakur's daughter Pooja survived in the accident though she suffered critical injuries. Rajesh had Pooja in his arms when the train hit him. Both of them were thrown some distance away. While Rajesh died on the spot, Pooja survived the accident. Rajesh had a barber shop in Sanjay Gandhi Transport Nagar. He was the sole breadwinner for his family.
