209 DU’s FMS students bag summer offers, highest is Rs 1.5L per month

Students at Delhi University’s Faculty of Management Studies (FMS) have their hands full with summer internship offers with average package of R78,122 per month and a 100 % placement this year.

All 209 students who participated in the placement drive were offered internships. The highest stipend was R1.5 lakh per month while the median stipend was R75,000 per month.

“All 209 students eligible for placement received internship offers with the average monthly stipend rising to R78,122, an 8 % increase compared to the previous year,” summer placement report for the batch of 2016-19 said.

Out of the 119 companies that confirmed their presence, 75 companies made internship offers to students. This time the institute recorded an 80 % increase in the number of offers from e-commerce giants such as Amazon, Uber, and Cloudtail.

“Most offers were from marketing followed by finance. 30% of the total offers were made by FMCG/FMCD (fast moving consumer goods/durables),” the report said.

The report said that the top 50 % of the students received an average monthly stipend of R97,143 and as many as 43 candidates have monthly stipend of over R1,00,000.

“The average monthly stipend for female candidates was R85,250,” the report said. Officials said FMS has been recording a 100% placement for both summer internships as well as job drives.

FMS has 226 seats for its’ sought after postgraduate course, including 26 supernumerary seats. This year the institute received around 20,000 applications for its 200 seats.

Summer internships usually pave the way for a job after students finish their course. This year at least one students was offered an annual package of over R1 crore in the placement drive conducted in March.

The highest international package given is $150,000 (R1.02 crore), while the highest domestic package stood at R66 lakh. This is R31 lakh higher than last year.
