Singh told a news channel initially the feedback was that Magray ran into an ambush laid by the army. “According to the initial information that came to us, they (the army unit) shouted and the boy ran — whether it was panic or what we don’t know and he was fired at. The procedures also say that you will fire at the lower part of body,” he said.
Singh arrived on Tuesday on a two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir to review the security scenario in the face of persistent demands for reduction in troops and the repeal of the army’s special powers under law. He will inspect the situation along the frontiers.
CM Omar Abdullah, however, twitted Magray had an injury not just on the foot but also on his back.
