Dr Naresh Trehan is not leaving Escorts alone. On Thursday, he said that 70 people had resigned along with him.

Shivinder Mohan Singh, managing director of Fortis Healthcare, which runs the Escorts Heart Institute and Research Center (EHIRC), however, maintained that that the actual number of resignations was much lower — at 24. But he conceded that another dozen could leave on Friday.
“Around 10-12 doctors have resigned but none of them are senior invasive cardiologists or cardiac surgeons. Escorts has a pool of 250 doctors, including 40 senior doctors and a total staff strength of around 2,600. The departure of these few people will not have any impact on the functioning of the hospital,” Singh said.
Singh also said that 15 out of the 40 people who had submitted their resignation along with Dr Trehan had since withdrawn them.
Among senior doctors who resigned along with Dr Trehan — and who have joined Indraprastha Apollo Hospital with him as well — are Dr Yatin Mehta, (director- anaesthesiology), Dr R.R. Kasliwal (director, non-invasive cardiology), Dr Sanjay Mittal and Dr Sameer Srivastava.
Dr Trehan, it is learnt, has sold his 10 per cent holding in EHIRC to friends and relatives of Singh for Rs 65 crore.
