“The incident was reported at 8:10 am on the BRT corridor when Sunil Kumar, a resident of Tigri Extension in Khanpur, was going to his office on a motorcycle,” said a senior Delhi Police officer.
Police sources say, a speeding luxury car rammed a cyclist from behind, who in turn hit Sunil’s bike, sending an iron rod that he was carrying through Sunil’s left leg.
“The rod went through Kumar’s left leg. The luxury car’s driver, however, managed to escape,” said the officer.
Police said a pedestrian alerted them after he saw both Sunil and the cyclist writhing in pain under the flyover.
“Sunil was rushed to the AIIMS Trauma Centre where his condition is reported to be stable. We are analysing the CCTV footage recovered from various cameras installed along the route and have registered a case of rash and negligent driving at the Greater Kailash Police Station,” the officer added.
