Sources said home minister Sushilkumar Shinde was studying the three options that include letting Telangana have Hyderabad but get the new state to relinquish some of its powers to the Centre. The other two options relate to Hyderabad being made a joint capital with union territory status and helping Andhra Pradesh set up a new capital elsewhere.
Shinde said he had just received a draft note on the options, emphasising that it would take him time to take a decision. “The whole exercise will take time. There is no chance that the note will be presented at tomorrow’s Cabinet meeting,” he said, putting an end to speculation that the Cabinet would take a call on Telangana on Friday.
