NEW DELHI: More than 30,000 students registered to take admissions in undergraduate courses offered by Delhi University on Wednesday — the first day of the varsity’s online application process.

“About 30,900 applicants registered online at the university admission portal within first six hours of the process being launched. Of the registered applicants, about 5,600 have completed their registration form, including online registration fee payment,” said Tarun Das, registrar.

The application process this year is online completely. From filling application forms to uploading documents to paying registration fee and selecting colleges, everything this year can be done with the click of a button.

University officials said that even college fees can be paid online and the only time students will have to physically visit the colleges will be when they go for verification of documents. Students can register online till June 19.

The registration for all categories — including Sports, Extra Curricular Activities (ECA), Kashmiri Migrants and CW (Defence) — this year will be completed online.

“From registration to selecting colleges and finally paying college fees, everything is online this year. This will save the students a lot of time and hassle,” said a university official.

The first cut-off list will be announced on June 27 after which students can take admission under this list till June 30. The second cut-off list will be out on July 1. This year the university will bring out only five cut-off lists.

All aspirants need to log on to the DU portal (www.du.ac.in) register and fill the application form. Apart from filling the form, students will also have to upload copy of self attested class 10, 12 mark sheets and reserved category certificate. The size of the file should not be more than 200 KB. Similarly, the photograph and signature should also not be more than 50Kb each.

Starting this year, the students applying under the sports and extra-curricular activities (ECA) quota can also select sports and ECA through the centralised admission form.

Aspirants can later check the college and the course they have qualified for and log on to the DU portal using the same registration number.

The registration fees is Rs100 for unreserved and OBC category while Rs50 for SC/ST/PwD (Person with Disabilities).
