The 38th Annual National Progressive Schools' Conference was held recently at India Islamic Cultural Centre on the theme 'Emerging Changes and Challenges in Education'. The event was inaugurated by Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit and it began with a melodious rendition by the St Thomas School choir.
Delhi University vice-chancellor Prof Dinesh Singh delivered the keynote address, who put forward the view that educators must allow students to discover their own light and potential rather than being overwhelmed with ideas.
Presenting the annual report, honorary secretary Ameeta Mulla Wattal emphasised that conscious effort should me made to work towards inclusive schooling. While vice-chairperson LV Sehgal proposed the vote of thanks.
Mount Abu Public School, Rohini, celebrated its sports and cultural fest. The chief guest on the occasion was TKA Nair, principal secretary to the Prime Minister, while Padamshree, Dronacharaya, Arjun Awardee Mahabal Satpal presided over the function as the guest of honour. The programme commenced with torchlighting followed by the march past. A number of sports activities such as drill, athletics, aerobics and taekwando left the audience spellbound. The cultural performance included a medley of dances presented by the students. Principal Jyoti Arora presented the annual report.
ASN Sr. Sec. School, Mayur Vihar, held its founder's day to celebrate the birth anniversary of the school chairman KL Luthra. A cultural programme was organized on the occasion, wherein the students of the primary wing presented dance performances and a skit 'Journey of a visionary', highlighting various aspects at his life. This was followed by the prize distribution. The senior wing students had prepared a book of self composed poems which was released on the occasion. Principal Sonia Luthra proposed the votes of thanks.
