4 held for trying to sell four-month-old boy

In another case similar to that of of the battered baby, the Delhi Police have arrested four persons in connection with selling a four-month-old boy.

In another case similar to that of of the battered baby, the Delhi Police have arrested four persons in connection with selling a four-month-old boy. The man, identified as Neeraj from West Bengal, and three women were arrested on Thursday by the Crime Branch.

The women have been identified as Chandra Devi, Heera Devi and Pooja Devi. “We had secret information that Chandra was looking for a prospective buyer for the infant and one of our officers contacted her posing as a decoy customer,” a senior police officer said.

She charged him Rs1 lakh and the decoy customer paid Rs10,000 as advance. Chandra along with the man and the two women were later arrested.

During interrogation, they told police that Neeraj was the biological father and that the women were selling him on his instance for a commission.

The women also disclosed that each of them had charged him Rs25,000 as commission. The child has been rescued. The Child Welfare Committee in Lajpat Nagar has asked NGO Upvan in Safdarjang Enclave to provide shelter and protection to the boy.
