The Capital continued to stifle under heat wave conditions on Saturday as the mercury reached 43.7 degrees Celsius, the season’s highest temperature so far.

The bad news is the heat wave is not going anywhere, at least for the next few days.
“No rainfall is expected in the coming days and the conditions are not set to improve. The temperature is expected to reach 44 degrees Celsius on Sunday,” said a Met official.
“The weather is getting worse by the day. It is specially difficult for my children as they have to walk from the bus stop to the house every day after school,” said Anupama Kapila, a housewife.
Saturday’s maximum temperature was eight degrees above normal and was the highest in ten years for the month of April. The mean maximum temperature for the month of April is 36.2 degree Celsius while the minimum is 21.5 degrees Celsius.
“We thought it was unusually hot last year but this year has proved to be much worse,” said Sonali Kamra, 22, a college student. “If the temperature is touching 44 in April, what will happen in June?”
The persisting heat conditions are due to lack of rain for the last two months, said the weatherman.
