50-yr woman crushed by blueline bus

A 50-year-old woman was crushed to death by a speeding Blueline bus in central Delhi’s Desh Bandhu Gupta Road area on Sunday evening. The accident took place around 4pm near Chappar Wala Chowk. HT reports.

A 50-year-old woman was crushed to death by a speeding Blueline bus in central Delhi’s Desh Bandhu Gupta Road area on Sunday evening. The accident took place around 4pm near Chappar Wala Chowk.

The woman could not be identified till late in the night. Her body has been sent to the mortuary of the Lady Hardinge Hospital, police said. According to a police officer, the woman was walking when the speeding Blueline bus, plying on route number between Kalyanpuri and Anand Parbat, hit her.

“According to eyewitnesses, the woman fell on the road and got crushed under the rear wheels of the bus. Locals caught the errant bus driver, identified as Surender Kumar, who tried to escape soon after the incident,” the officer said. “Kumar has been arrested and a case has been registered against him,” he said, adding that the police have impounded the bus.
