A 65-year-old woman was verbally abused and subsequently stabbed by two bike-borne assailants just below her home in outer Delhi on Sunday night.

“The incident was reported from Aman Vihar at around 9 pm. The victim has been identified as Manti Devi,” said a senior police officer investigating the incident.
According to the police, Manti Devi was sitting in the telephone booth she runs for extra income on the ground floor of her residence when the assailants approached her.
“Her two sons were inside the house when the two barged in and repeatedly stabbed her with a sharp weapon. We were intimated about the incident and immediately rushed the victim to the adjacent Sanjay Gandhi Hospital,” the officer said.
Her condition is presently stable, though serious.
“Prima facie investigation has revealed that robbery was certainly not the motive behind the crime. It seems to be a case of personal enmity. Initial enquiry has revealed that a dispute related to some property the victim owns in the same area might be the reason,” the officer added.
A case of attempt to murder has been registered at the Aman Vihar police station and investigation is currently underway.
