According to NGO Bachpan Bachao Andolan, which assisted in the rescue, the boy had fallen into the habit of sniffing correction fluid.

According to the NGO, the boy's family felt they had no other option but to chain him to stop him from going out. He had been tied up in chains for a year before he was rescued.

The boy was sent to Apna Ghar shelter home after his medical check-up.
