85 chemists found of selling banned drugs
The Drug Controller General of India (DGCI) raided chemist shops across Delhi and Bhiwadi in Rajasthan to check the sale of banned drugs. The DCGI officials conducted surprise inspections at 134 outlets including some hospitals in Delhi and Bhiwadi.
The Drug Controller General of India (DGCI) raided chemist shops across Delhi and Bhiwadi in Rajasthan to check the sale of banned drugs. The DCGI officials conducted surprise inspections at 134 outlets including some hospitals in Delhi and Bhiwadi.
"During the inspection, we found 85 outlets which were selling prohibited drugs. We have issued orders to stop disposing the stocks of prohibited drugs to the licensees concerned and further action will be taken against them after the investigations are over," the official said.
The ministry of health had prohibited manufacture, sale and distribution of drug rosiglitazone (an antidiabetic drug) and its formulations for human use with effect from November 16, 2010. It had banned gatifloxacin (an antibiotic) formulations for systemic use in human by any route including oral and injectable and tegaserod (constipation medicine) and its formulations with effect from March 16, 2011.
