A 9-year-old-boy was found dead under mysterious circumstances at the office of a property dealer, while his grandmother allegedly attempted suicide in the same office in north Delhi’s Burari on Friday evening.

The deceased has been identified as Sameer.

His grandmother Reena is recuperating at the Sushruta Trauma Centre.

Police are suspecting that the woman allegedly killed her grandson before attempting suicide.

Though the exact reason behind the incident is yet to be ascertained, a senior police said the woman was angry with her son and daughter-in-law for allegedly forcing her to live separately.

A senior police officer said the incident came to light at 5.30pm through a PCR call made by a passerby who had seen the woman hanging from a ceiling fan. “When locals went inside the office, they discovered Sameer’s body in the adjacent room.

The property dealer was out for some work and had left his office open,” the senior officer said.

IB Rani, DCP (north) said, “We are waiting for the woman’s statement to know what happened. Our investigation is at the primary stage.”
