“These people often operate from small shops and spill their work on the road, obstructing traffic flow. We carried out an anti-encroachment drive and registered cases under IPC 283 (Danger or obstruction in public way or line of navigation) and IPC 447 (Punishment for criminal trespass) against these people,” Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) SN Shrivastava said.

The Delhi Traffic Police also removed 118 workshops and prosecuted 2,548 vehicles parked illegally during the special operation.

While 918 vehicles were impounded, 462 were towed away from places where they were affecting movement of traffic, Shrivastava said.
