Owners of roadside eateries can now breathe a sigh of relief because the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) had decided to issue them licence to do business.
Owners of roadside eateries can now breathe a sigh of relief because the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) had decided to issue them licence to do business.
The civic agency has decided that all dhaba owners who have their establishment on legal land will be issued a licence. In addition to this, kiosks and stall owners can also get a licence issued under the revised policy.
“Kiosks and stalls that were less than 100 square feet in size were not eligible for a licence from the MCD. We have now liberalised the policy under which all such stalls and kiosks can get a licence,” said a senior MCD official.
Earlier, the High Court had asked the MCD agency to remove all roadside dhabas on encroached land.
“Dhabas offer a quick bite to scores of people and hence we have decided to give them licence. In case they do not have water connection, dhabas will have to use potable water,” said chairman of the MCD standing committee.
