The survey also puts the leading Opposition party, the BJP, at No. 2 with only 33% Delhiites wanting it to come to power while the ruling Congress faces a huge anti-incumbency wave. Only 27% people wanted the ruling party to return to power, according to the AAP survey.

However, if elections were held in the last week of August, then BJP would be the single largest party with 31% votes, followed by the Aam Aadmi Party with 27% and the Congress at third position with 26%. “This indicates a dramatic shift in political fortunes in the last six months,” said a statement by AAP.

“Party’s leader Arvind Kejriwal is way ahead of (Congress leader and three times chief minister) Sheila Dikshit and (BJP leader) Vijay Goel in chief ministerial popularity ranking,” an AAP statement said.

The survey was conducted by Cicero Associates Delhi. When asked if the party should get a chance to form the government, as many as 47% respondents were favourable, the survey said.

“Only 27% were in the favour of the current Congress government while as many as 62% respondents were against giving it another chance, it said. For the BJP too the proportion that wanted to give it a chance was just 33%, much less than the 52% who were against it,” an AAP statement said.

Pravin Kumar, who had played the role of Bhim in the TV series Mahabharat and also a medallist at Asian Games, will join the party on Sunday.

AAP has declared three more candidates’ names, taking its total tally to 45 from amongst the 70 assembly seats in Delhi.
