A fault in the Alaknanda grid caused a power cut of almost five hours in parts of South Delhi on Wednesday at around 2 am. According to the BSES Rajdhani Power Limited officials, a fault had developed at around 2.30 am and power supply was restored by 8.30 am. Areas such as Alaknanda, CR Park, Kailash Colony, Kalkaji, East of Kailash among others were affected.
"The Alaknanda grid had developed a minor fault. Due to this, power supply in some of the south Delhi areas was affected for a few hours," said a senior BRPL official.
While BRPL officials claimed that supply was restored within five hours, the residents disagree. They claim that there was no power until 11 am.
"There was no power supply in our area for more than six hours. Even if they want to repair a line, they should inform the residents," said Sushma Chandra, resident of CR Park.
"While power supply to most of the areas was restored by 6.30 am, everything was in order by 8.30 am," said the BPRL official.
