Anthropology is the study of humans, their culture and evolution. At the undergraduate level, this course is offered only in Hansraj College. There are 10 papers in total, two in the first year, Physical Anthropology and Social Anthropology.

There are three papers in second year, Social Institutions, Prehistoric Anthropology and Fundamentals of Human Origin and Evolution. Third year papers include Human Genetics, Human Ecology, Tribes and Peasantries, etc. There is an archaeological field trip in the second year, and another field trip to a village in the third year to study its social institutions, marriage and kinship situations.

Students interested in this course, especially the archaeology aspect, should be prepared for a challenging course.

Career options
Students of Anthropology go on to do postgraduate courses in Anthropology or Sociology, which is a related field. Some become Anthropologists, some pursue Forensic Science, some pursue Visual Anthropology and may become filmmakers, or go for Market Research. Civil Services is also a popular option.
