Apex court gives Ravana example

"If Sita had not crossed the 'Lakshman Rekha', then Ravana would not have been killed." This is what the Supreme Court said on Wednesday when the UPA government's counsel argued that the court should not entertain Janata Party chief Subramanian Swamy's plea for probing home minister P Chidambaram for his alleged role in 2G spectrum scam, as it would amount to crossing the 'Lakshman Rekha'.

"If Sita had not crossed it, then Ravana would not have been killed," a bench of justice GS Singhvi and justice AK Ganguly told senior counsel PP Rao, who is representing the Centre.

The SC remark came after Rao said monitoring jurisdiction of the SC ended after CBI filed its chargesheet in the spectrum scam.
