Shaqib Akhtar, who has given Class XII examinations, was taken into custody by the Special Cell, the elite anti-terror wing of the city police, from Shaheenbagh in south Delhi's Jamia Nagar, a senior police official said.

"Some of his remarks after the blasts had aroused suspicion and we wanted to verify it. We questioned him and he was let off after we found his comments were related to something else," the official said.

Atif, the alleged Indian Mujahideen militant, was killed in an encounter with Delhi Police last Friday.

Meanwhile, a joint team of Delhi and Uttar Pradesh Police conducted searches at Sanjarpur in Azamgarh district, the native place of Atif, and traced some bank accounts of the suspects in the terror attack here.

The 22-member team of Delhi Police was accompanied by Shakib, who was arrested in connection with blasts in the national capital.

The account of one Shadab Malik in the State Bank of India was checked and it was found that he was withdrawing money only from ATMs in Delhi since 2007.

The official said the city police was looking for six persons in connection with the bombings in Azamgarh.

The team also questioned a doctor in Azamgarh and was trying to know the whereabouts of his son, the official said, adding it also recovered CDs and some documents from Sanjarpur.
