Pfeifer was caught by a CISF official while exiting the terminal. “A CISF man at gate No. 5 of departure noticed Pfeifer while he was exiting. He had not come with the airline staff to do the off-loading formalities. He was asked to produce his ticket, which was forged,” said a police officer. In normal procedure, if a passenger exits, an airline staff accompanies him to confirm that he has cancelled his booking.

Police said that Pfeifer had booked a ticket with IndiGo Airline for February 28, but had forged it by changing the date to February 23.

“He changed the date and took a printout, wehich he used to enter the terminal,” the officer added.

Pfeifer had come to India in November and had visited places like Leh, Manali and Varanasi on a bicycle.
