Balloon-seller’s child scores a perfect 10

A resident of Gautam Puri, she lives with her parents and five siblings, four of whom are in school and one works in a beauty parlour.

“I haven’t been able to tell my father about my result because he hasn’t come back home yet, but my mother is very happy. She was unwell, but as soon as she heard about it, she jumped with joy,” says Kavita, who is a student of Government Senior Secondary School 1, Badarpur. Her journey has not been easy. “When there was no electricity, I studied in candle light,” says Kavita, who aspires to be a doctor in future.
