Ephedrine is a precursor to party drugs and stimulants such as ecstasy.

While Sunil Meitei, 35, the self-styled commander of Kangleipak Communist Party (MTF-Sunil Meitie Group), was held from Bangalore, his associate Robindro, 43, a passout from a south Delhi school and the husband of a senior bureaucrat in the Manipur Police, was apprehended from Manipur last week, police said.

"The proceeds of these sales were being sent to various militant organisations of Manipur for conducting their nefarious activities. The current price, of the 200 kg of ephedrine recovered by us earlier, is estimated to be worth Rs 2 crore," said an officer.
