BJP demands death penalty

The BJP is likely to ask for death penalty in heinous cases of rape. The party is also mulling recommending to the Justice JS Verma panel on punishment for rape that laws relating to juveniles be qualified to deny them protection in case they are found involved in heinous crimes. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is likely to ask for death penalty in heinous cases of rape. The party is also mulling recommending to the Justice JS Verma panel on punishment for rape that laws relating to juveniles be qualified to deny them protection in case they are found involved in heinous crimes.

The party is likely to submit its recommendations to the panel on Wednesday.

Senior BJP leaders Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley have played the main role in drafting the recommendations.
