BJP demands national commission for senior citizens

The BJP on Sunday demanded the setting up of a national commission for senior citizens to make their lives easier and secure. In one of Senior Citizen Federation’s biggest conclaves at Talkatora stadium, BJP President Nitin Gadkari lent his voice to the cause.

The BJP on Sunday demanded the setting up of a national commission for senior citizens to make their lives easier and secure. In one of Senior Citizen Federation’s biggest conclaves at Talkatora stadium, BJP President Nitin Gadkari lent his voice to the cause.

“We strongly demand the setting up of a national commission for senior citizens. They should be given free medical facilities and their monthly pension should be increased by Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,000 per month,” said Gadkari.

Senior BJP leader Ananth Kumar said his party will voice the demand for creation of a national commission for senior citizens in Parliament.

BJP leader and founder of Senior Citizen Federation Vijay Goel said, “Recreation centres for senior citizens should be established. Those above 75 years of age should be given free medical insurance.”
