A nine-year-old boy died after he fell into a 10-foot-deep pit at a construction site on S Kalawati Hospital campus near Connaught Place.

A nine-year-old boy died after he fell into a 10-foot-deep pit at a construction site on S Kalawati Hospital campus near Connaught Place.

Police said Monty was playing outside his house on Wednesday evening when he fell into an uncovered pit.

Monty’s father works at the hospital mortuary and lives in the servant flats on the premises. “The boy was playing near the place where a new OPD is being built when he fell into the pit,” a senior police officer said.

Monty was rushed to the nearby hospital where he died on Thursday evening. “We have been complaining about the unmanned open holes but no action had been taken. Their negligence led to death of my son,” Ajay Prakash, the boy's father, said.
