The incident took place around 10.30pm when some unidentified men barged into the house of businessman Kuldeep Batra who owns a plastic factory.
According to the police, Batra and his family had gone to a Sai Baba temple in the area at around 9pm when the incident took place.
"The burglars cut the iron grills of a window and broke the locks of the front door and entered the house," said a senior police officer, requesting anonymity, as he was not authorised to speak to the media.
The police said the family discovered the burglary when they returned home. "They questioned the area guard who feigned ignorance and claimed that he had not seen anyone," the officer said.
