BPOs in Gurgaon and Noida have made elaborate precautionary arrangements for the May 29 bandh called by the Gujjar community so their offices can function uninterrupted. Apart from sending alert messages to its overseas clients, the BPOs have booked guesthouses, arranged extra bedding for its employees to spend the night in the office and have also identified alternate routes for its cabs to enter Gurgaon and Noida.

Other measures include hoarding of additional quantities of food items, water and diesel to run their power plants.

Sam Chopra, president of Business Processing Industry Association of India (BPIAI) said, “As part of its business continuity plans, BPOs in Gurgaon and Noida have booked large number of guesthouses to lodge their employees in the case of violence. BPOs have also arranged for beddings so employees can spend the night in the training rooms and cafeterias.”

Chopra said many BPOs have alerted its overseas clients and readied for temporary business transfer options in case their operations are affected in the wake of a possible violence during the bandh.

“BPOs would have options to temporarily transfer their business processes to redundancy centres located in non-troubled cities within the country if their operations are affected due to bandh here,” he said.

“We have asked employees to enter Gurgaon ad Noida before 9.00 am and move out only after 5.00 pm. Many cab operators have identified alternates routes to enter these two cities to avoid troubled regular routes such as highways,” Chopra added.
