CBI's press information officer R.K. Gaur told Hindustan Times, "Dr Rakesh Verma possesses five bank accounts/lockers — either in his name or those of his family members — which are under investigation."

The CBI is looking into the possibility that the suspect, along with others, indulged in corrupt practices vis-a-vis stents in heart transplants.

Details of investment and incriminating documents pertaining to properties held by the doctor or his family members were recovered during searches, said Gaur.

Teams belonging to CBI's Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) undertook raids beginning Wednesday morning at Verma's official and residential premises.

It also raided properties held by Dr Verma at several places in the NCR.

According to city magistrate Sanjay Chauhan, "Sharma has a stake in this college; the CBI team were looking for documents."
