CBI nabs DDA engineers for pocketing Rs 1 lakh

The Central Bureau of Investigation nabbed two engineers posted with the Delhi Development Authority for having allegedly accepted a bribe of Rs 1 lakh to approve a pending construction proposal, reports HT.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday nabbed two engineers posted with the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) for having allegedly accepted a bribe of Rs. 1 lakh to approve a pending construction proposal.

DDA assistant engineer Kapil Dev and junior engineer M.K. Sharma were nabbed by the CBI team moments after they had accepted Rs. 50,000 each from a complainant to get his pending construction proposal approved.

The CBI arrested the duo from near their office at Vikas Sadan in south Delhi.

According to CBI, the accused had demanded a sum of Rs. 5 lakh from the complainant; the Rs. 1 lakh they accepted on Tuesday was only a part-payment of it.

The agency also carried out searches on the accuseds' office and residences. DDA spokesperson Neemo Dhar however told Hindustan Times she had no information about the CBI's operation.
