The irregularities were related to installation of hundreds of submersible pumps in the city, between 2004 to 2007, according to a CBI source. After arresting the accused assistant engineer SK Jain, the CBI has seized several key documents related to execution of the projects.
"The RTI applicant, who is a DJB employee, had sought information on certain irregularities related to installation of submersible pumps in the city and had got the reply," said the CBI source.
Jain has been charged under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
A fortnight ago, the CBI had registered four cases against 10 DJB officials and five of its private contractors over alleged irregularities related to the award of tubewell installation contracts worth Rs 1.35 crore in the city.
