The CBI has seized a 16th century idol of Shiva and Parvati from a smuggling network that was about to export it from the Delhi airport to a buyer in Hong Kong, China.
The statue — made of sandstone — depicts the deities in a seated posture, with one of their legs crossed and leaning on each other; there are carvings of other animal and human characters, including a musician.
