A resident of C block noticed the strange bag wedged between the boundary wall of her three-storey building and a parked car at around 9.30am.

"We got a call from a woman who lives on the first floor of the building that a medium-sized white bag was laying right outside the boundary wall. We found a torso-less male body in the bag," said Chhaya Sharma, deputy commissioner of police, south district.

The body - stuffed in a blue polythene bag and then in the white zipped bag - belongs to a man in his early 30s, initial investigations suggest.

He was in all probability killed elsewhere and his chopped-up body dumped in the colony to mislead the investigation. A leather belt with the initials CSS scribbled on it was found on him.

"We are contacting nearby police stations to find out if the remaining body parts have been recovered elsewhere," a senior police officer said.

Since the body was found in a gated colony with heavy barricades, the police suspect an insider's hand.

"The colony is gated and only two gates are open in the night; those too are heavily barricaded. Getting inside at night time and placing a bag is not easy. Someone who's acquainted with the area must have done this," the officer said, adding, "A case of murder has been registered against unknown person/persons."

Yet another mutilated body in a bag abandoned in the Capital: Since February 11, 2011, when a young woman's body in a black duffel bag was found outside New Delhi railway station, there have been at least seven such incidents.
