City’s first mahila haat to open next year
The first Mahila Haat in the city, being constructed by the MCD will not be opened this year as was earlier decided. After umpteen delays and doubling of the budget, the sub-committee set up to oversee the project has said that it will open next year.

In 2009, former mayor Aarti Mehra had announced the construction of the haat at car parking on Asaf Ali Road near Delhi Gate. She had assured that it will be ready in a year’s time. The budget was decided at R2 crore. However, as the years rolled, budget went up to R5 crore.
The sub-committee, set up to oversee the haat, has now recommended that a new sub-committee be set for selection of vendors which will run the shops for a fixed time. They have said that the structure is ready, only few touches are left. HTC
