The incident took place following an argument over the victim approaching a girl, known to the accused, for friendship.
According to the police, Mohammad Salman, a resident of Usmanpur locality, was returning home after attending his tuition classes when he was attacked by the accused, Deepak, 18, who lives in his neighbourhood.
BK Singh, additional DCP (northeast) said both the victim and the accused study in Class 12 of the same school.
"On that night, the two had a scuffle following a minor argument. It seems Deepak did not like Salman approaching the girl for friendship. This probably was the reason behind the fight, said Singh. Deepak has been arrested.
Deepak stabbed Salman in his abdomen with a small knife. Salman was taken to Guru Teg Bahadur hospital from where he was discharged after treatment, added Singh.
