“The building has become old and was showing distressing signs since it is now being utilised by more people than was estimated earlier. We need to preserve this heritage building,” she said.

Austerity drive
The Speaker said she would consider the suggestion of holding an all-party meeting on the austerity issue for MPs.

“Austerity is best when it comes voluntarily. I would consider the suggestion of holding an all-party meeting on the issue.”

Kumar said she would like the meetings of parliamentary committees to be held in Delhi as long as the country was in austerity mode.

Winter session
The winter session of Parliament is likely to commence from the second week of November. When asked, Kumar said there was a possibility that the session would begin from November 9.
