Common transport agreement notified in NCR

Governments of Rajasthan, Delhi, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh have notified the final contract carriage agreement in their gazettes on December 2, 11, 16 and 24, 2008 respectively.

To facilitate seamless movement of taxis and auto-rickshaws in the national capital region (NCR), constituent states of NCR have notified the reciprocal common transport agreement in their respective gazettes and newspapers to implement the same.

Governments of Rajasthan, Delhi, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh have notified the final contract carriage agreement in their gazettes on December 2, 11, 16 and 24, 2008 respectively.

With the notification, the process for implementation of the agreement has begun, a release said here.

The agreement will facilitate the unrestricted movement of taxis and auto-rickshaws within NCR. People will be able to hire taxis and auto-rickshaws from the airport, railway stations and inter-state bus stops in Delhi and reach their destinations in NCR such as Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, Faridabad, Gurgaon and Bahadurgarh.

The vehicles will conform to Euro III norms and operate on CNG.

There will be a common colour code and a logo for all contract carriage vehicles in the NCR. The colour code and logo has been decided by the constituent states of NCR on mutual agreement basis.

The specification for width of colour strip and size of logo for each type of vehicle may be obtained from road transport authorities of the constituent states.
