It took more than two hours for the cars to be parked and retrieved, which — according to the traders there — is discouraging.
Unsuspecting shoppers at the market were caught in the confusion and complained that they should have been informed earlier.
Nivedita Brahma, who waited for half an hour for her son to bring back their car, had come to only buy “a few commodities” but ended up sweating in the sun. “Had I known beforehand, I would have gone to some other market,” she said.
The speed test was conducted at the behest of the Supreme Court-appointed monitoring committee to find out how efficient the DLF-run parking was in practice. Following the test, the traders have said they will continue using the surface parking, which is much simpler.
