CRPF DG Vikram Srivastava and home ministry officials in Delhi signalled they did not want to join issue with the state police chief Vishwaranjan.

Home Secretary G.K. Pillai is scheduled to visit the state next week to hold a security review.

Government sources, however, indicated the Centre had conveyed its displeasure to the state. But officials in the force were livid at the police chief washing his hands off, saying he couldn’t be expected to teach the CRPF how to walk.

The Congress demanded the CM own moral responsibility for the killings.

V. Narayanasamy, state’s AICC general secretary, said the police chief didn’t know his job and didn’t deserve to continue.
