“The disproportionate use of brute force by Israel resulting in colossal loss of civilian lives, including women and children, has caused deep shock and anguish throughout the world. This action, therefore, deserves strongest condemnation,” a Congress statement said.
Deploring the attack on civilians, the ruling party said that it was unacceptable to the civilised world and called upon the United Nations and international community to intervene for an immediate ceasefire and resumption of dialogue.
Reaffirming its solidarity with the Palestinian people and their cause, the Congress appealed both sides to “exercise restraint, abjure violence and abide by their agreed international obligations for an early negotiated resolution of all disputes”.
