Constable’s home burgled in Najafgarh

Constable vijay kumar and his family were in mumbai when his neighbour informed him of his house being burgled.

The latest burglary incident in town has left people wondering whether the Delhi Police personnel are safe in their own homes.

On July 24, Delhi Police constable Vijay Kumar reported a burglary in his home in southwest Delhi’s Najafgarh. The miscreants took away cash and jewellery worth around Rs 4 lakh.

In his complaint, Kumar said that he and his family were in Mumbai when the burglary took place. “Kumar told us that he was informed about the burglary by his neighbour who had found the main door of his house ajar and the entire house ransacked. We have registered a case and are looking for the burglars,” said a police officer.

In a separate incident, the south district police have arrested two burglars who had stolen 13 air-conditioners (ACs) worth Rs 5 lakh from a farmhouse in Asola. Dharmender Chaurasiya and his associate Vicky Shastri were arrested by a team of the Fatehpur Beri police station on Saturday.

Chhaya Sharma, DCP (south), said the arrests came following a complaint lodged by Mohammad Imran, a manager in a private company that installs ACs in farmhouses during wedding parties.

“The complainant told us that 13 ACs, kept in a godown at a farmhouse, were stolen by unidentified thieves. Accordingly, a case was registered and the team arrested Dharmendra who was working as a mechanic in marriage parties. He was interrogated after which he confessed to his crime. At his instance, Shastri was arrested and the stolen ACs recovered,” said Sharma.
