Cops identify house where conspiracy was hatched

Sayyed Feroze, 38, one of the operational heads of Pune serial blasts of August 1 is currently in that city. He led a team of the Delhi Police Special Cell to a house which he and five others had rented as a 'meeting ground' a month prior to the bid.

"During questioning, Feroze confessed that he and five other men, who were involved in the terrorist attack, had rented a flat posing as mobile tower technicians during the first week of July. Since the date of the attack was inching closer, the men had paid three months' rent in advance," said an officer.

Sources said they had questioned the owner of the house and recorded his statement before proceeding to two other locations. These include an adjacent cycle market and a wholesale electronics market where Feroze identified some shops he had visited to procure material to construct the Improvised Explosive Devices used to execute five simultaneous blasts on the fateful evening.

On October 11, Asad Khan, 33, Imran Khan, 31 and Sayyed Feroze, 38 - all of whom allegedly belong to the Indian Mujahideen's Maharashtra Module, had been arrested by the Special Cell.

"Interrogation revealed that the trio introduced themselves as local residents looking to get away from their ancestral homes and prepared forged papers to rent the house," the officer added.
