The meeting that included mayors of the corporations, members of the Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) and members of Environment Pollution Control Authority (EPCA) suggested a steep hike in the parking charges in the city.
According to the leaders of the corporation, the residents of Delhi are already paying a lot of taxes and there is no need for increased parking tariff. Since the corporations manage the parking in the city, the proposal to increase charges have to be brought before them for approval, the leaders added.
"We will see the kind of charges that have been proposed. If the hike is too steep, we will suggest changes. We are not in favour of any hike," said Mahender Nagpal, leader of the House, north corporation.
