Court orders FIR in Khajuri Khas rape
After four months of allegedly being sexually assaulted by her distant relative and one of her tenants, a city court directed the Delhi Police to register a case of rape based on the complaint of a 17-year-old resident of northeast Delhi's Khajuri Khas area on Thursday.

"The incident came to light on February 6. We have already arrested the said tenant Amit Sharma, 26, and the victim's cousin, Jaikiran, 36," said Sanjay Kumar Jain, deputy commissioner of police (northeast). The police said that Jaikiran was posted as a constable with the 103rd battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in Wazirabad. The victim is a student of class XI and was alleged being raped by the duo for more than four months.
"Amit, who stayed on rent in the victim's house, got into a relationship with her. When his friend Jaikiran got to know about it, he joined in the sexual assault instead of stopping Amit," said a senior police officer. The victim's family said that the two had threatened the girl throughout the four-month period of abuse.
"We had first approached the police on February 4 when she broke her silence about the whole matter. But they refused to file an FIR. It is only after we approached the SDM of our area that the case was registered," claimed a relative.
The police however, said they had offered to register the case immediately after the victim's family brought it to their notice but the family had backed out, citing their relationship with one of the accused. "On a city court's order, we registered a case of gangrape. The girl's medical examination has confirmed sexual assault. While Amit was arrested last night, Jaikiran surrendered on Thursday. Both have been sent for 14 days' judicial custody," Jain added.
