"In politics, there is legitimate criticism of an opponent if you are using political language. But this type of language against a woman leader is totally unacceptable. My party has strongly opposed this statement. It has made a public censure of the individual concerned," politburo member Brinda Karat told reporters here.
State unit secretary Biman Basu said, "His comments are against the political culture of our party. Our party does not approve the comments made by Anisur Rahman."
Referring to the West Bengal government's policy of compensating rape-victims, Rahman had supposedly asked how much Banerji would charge for this offence.
